Photoart

Pirasteh's imagery explores spaces without boundaries. These are uncrowded spaces, unpolluted, with a minimum of detail. Solitude and loneliness abound. The influence of Iranian landscapes takes prominence with the distortion of hues and the colour blue, creating breathtaking atmospheres.

The trauma of recent conflicts in the Middle East has profoundly affected the way Pirasteh views the world around her. Dramatic monochrome prints address the discontent and protest of recent times. Moving away from traditional techniques, Pirasteh explored new territories: paint, collage, photographs and other media combine as vehicles of self-expression and mood.

In recent images the colours are louder and patterns more vibrant than ever before. These superimposed and manipulated images of everyday objects are her boldest yet, a departure from previous works in which dazzling colours and shades symbolize a promising, optimistic future.
